Triple Turbos at Westbury

​Lucky? Friday 13th.  Under a leaden sky three class 165 Turbos at Westbury at 1035am. 166215 on 2V88 0853 Weymouth-Gloucester, 166210 on 2C12 1025 Warminster-Westbury and 166207 on 2O86 0842 Gloucester-Weymouth.    Just a few weeks ago these three trains would most likely have all been formed of class 150 units but, with 16 sets having now gone to Northern Rail this will no longer be the case and the Turbos are here to stay.

This is where the Cycletrack which follows the Wenford Bridge Branch is deviated to avoid the dangerous road crossing at Dunmere. The cycleway deviates to pass under the main road and join the former Bodmin North branch just south of Dunmere Halt. Copyright Andrew Jones.

The seemingly simple route of the Wenford branch is complicated by the crossing and re-crossing on the same lane - the two crossings being just yards apart, Copyright Andrew Jones.

Dorchester
Mick House 

Mick continues his travels through Dorchester station area and points out a few things - the dates of these pictures are around about 1988 when work to electrify the Weymouth route, third rail, was in progress. This series to be continued.

A cab view of the approach to Dorchester South from the south. The station buildings for the original terminal building into which all up trains had to reverse can be seen off to the left.
