Many Thanks Martin and well done Roger
43172 which was suitably rebranded to commemorate Armistice Day, and named Harry Patch is working the 15.06 Paddington Penzance service this afternoon due Penzance at 20.42. It will return tomorrow morning on the 06.45 Penzance to London Paddington before returning to Plymouth on the 13.05. from Paddington. This is believed to be the first visit into Cornwall of the power car since repainted in November. Many Thanks Martin and well done Roger Whilst checking on Long Rock yard and photographing the Night Sleeper etc a full bodied incident was taking place on Long Rock beach with the bomb disposal and three police vehicles stopping any person going onto the beach whilst the team detonated a suspect item way out on the shore line. After an almighty bang, the men inspected their work followed by the all clear being given. What it was remains a mystery! This month we move on to have a quick, very quick look at the run into Swindon - see Chippenham to Swindon plus Swindon Works - this covers CRS and others visits to the long gone works. Also well worth watching is the following clip on a journey from Swindon Junction to Swindon Town. There is also footage of Swindon itself plus a bus ride from Devizes to Swindon. YEOVIL PEN MILL
Passenger trains between Yeovil Pen Mill and Yeovil Junction were withdrawn 50 years ago today on 29 November 1965. The stations are about 2 miles apart; and at the moment you can get between the two by taxi at a cost of £7 - £8; by bus at a cost of £3; or by walking for about 40 minutes. Both the South West Trains and National Rail websites are now showing trains between the two stations from Monday 14 December 2015. The cost is £2.40 single. Thanks for this info Mike. Looking north from the stone bridge towards Bodmin Road this is 37065 with the Bodmin to St Blazey Fitzgerald lighting wagons which it has collected from Bodmin Parkway . Monday 12th July 1999
Graham Mann reports on the track replacement work between Milltown and Lostwithiel today the 29th November 2015. Many thanks to you Graham. Time lapse pictures :-
Here's 60047 arriving at St blazey with 6C26 and of it stabled in the river siding . Rumour has it that 60076 will work tonight to Lostwithiel via Par for run round - and it did. Many thanks Paul Night work 60076 7C21 at Par and Lostwithiel.Hello Keith, Although the weather was vile, I did pop down to the yard at St Blazey to see 6C26 arrive on Sat 28th Nov. The train was formed of Autoballsters hauled by the rather spick and span Colas class 60, 60047. This was the loco's first visit into the Duchy, and will be working in the (Milltown) Lostwithiel relaying site, which wasn't completed earlier this year. 60076 was believed to have worked the overnight train down, which left during darkness.
Our Response Vehicle is rather less spick and span - well weathered deep in the leaf-fall season. The usually abundant class 70s seem to be busy in the London District these days - Crossrail maybe? Cheers for now, Craig As usual, many thanks. |
