Kind regards, Martin Duff Many thanks to Martin and also to Keith Webber. N.B. Weymouth is out of our region at present but we'll include them just the same.
Morning Keith, My SWT colleague and former Honiton signalman, Keith Webber has agreed to my offering the attached photographs for inclusion on the CRS pages. Last Wednesday, 25th June 2014 – 34046 BRAUNTON worked a 1Z67 08.44 London Victoria – Weymouth via Staines and Woking special. THE CATHEDRALS EXPRESS After reaching Weymouth at 13.44 and shunting the ECS to the nearby Jersey Sidings, the steam locomotive ran light to Yeovil Junction for turning at the railway centre. 47237 worked the train forward from Weymouth to Yeovil Pen Mill where it ran round (does anybody know the last time a Class 47 ran round passenger stock at Pen Mill?) and hauled the train round to Yeovil Junction ready for 34046 to be attached to the Salisbury end of the train. 1Z69 departed Yeovil Junction 18.50 for London. Attached are a selection of images copyright Keith Webber, of the scenes at Yeovil Junction, Pen Mill and Weymouth. Enjoy! Kind regards, Martin Duff Many thanks to Martin and also to Keith Webber. N.B. Weymouth is out of our region at present but we'll include them just the same. Martin Duff kindly advises us that D1015 is coming back to see us on 20th September 2014, details in the link. Will be terminating Par, then running an afternoon special to Parkandillack. http://www.pathfindertours.co.uk/index.php/tour-calendar-reader/events/the-cornish-explorer.html
This was the first picture received today sent in by Sid Sponheimer at 16.50. It features Mr Rileys locomotive with the down train passing the site of Respryn Halt which according to Wilikpedia was a temporary arrangement from 4.5.1859 to 27.6.1859 presumably for the sole benefit of the Agar-Robartes family of Lanhydrock, due to a delay on the part of the Cornwall railway in completing Bodmin Road Station. Copyright Sid Sponheimer Keith Two class 159's 159 004/020 at Kingswear on Saturday 28th June having left Waterloo at 0732 on UK Railtours charter. I don't think SouthWest Trains 159s have been that far west for a few years. Nearest unit is 020. David Potter Thanks David On the way down. On Saturday 28th June D1015 Western Champion made a welcome return to Cornwall heading the 'The Cornishman' At the terminus On the way back Redruth, it's 16.38 and D1015 Champion gives a slight haze of smoke as the engines are opened up producing that satisfying Maybach Music. It was very unfortunate for those on the down platform when the 16.38 down service rolled in to obscure their view just seconds prior to Champion's arrival - for once I'd been lucky! Copyright Keith Jenkin I wonder if you can help me I'm modelling Padstow in 00 and want to model the fish sheds I've used all the usual sources, but none of them have a front on view of the fish shed. There are many side views and other angles but no front view that is not obstructed by carriages etc. I wonder if you are aware if there is any photograph giving a clear view of the front of the shed? Can anyone help please? Regards, David [email protected]
