A few shots from this morning at Forder (14th October 2015)
Best Regards Ron Many thanks to you both
Hi Keith A few shots from this morning at Forder (14th October 2015) Best Regards Ron Many thanks to you both I must say that after years of disuse it is great to see the down yard at Lostwithiel in use if only as an artificial quarry. Long may it use continue. Many thanks to Paul Rundle for these pictures which as a member of Railstaff he is able to get for us to enjoy. Hi Keith The last few weeks have topped the rest of 2015 for continuous sunshine I reckon! The sun blazed on today near Lostwithiel at Milltown. Myself Ivan Stewart & Nathan Stockman took in the late afternoon sun waiting for the RHTT & Parkandillack to Fowey clay which was a tad later than usual today. After a few ropey clouds scudded across our bows, we were rewarded with beautiful crisp sunlight dropping slowly in the wets behind us, and the foliage colours really stood out. The Rail Vac is down to Lostwithiel tomorrow, so will try to get some shots before my shift tomorrow. Look forward to that. All the best, Craig As usual many thanks to you , glad you and the gang had a good time. Hi Keith Make hay whilst........ - the sun shines!!! B Rgds, Ron Many thanks Known as the sludge by some railway enthusiasts the 07.02 Plymouth-Penzance and the 10.00 Penzance to Paddington comprised of the new GWR Green Livery HST. Unfortunately this colour scheme doesn't stand out when there is no sun about. We now visit Weston - super - Mare Locking road station. This was ostensibly an excursion station used to take traffic holiday traffic from the north to the beach at Weston. It did not appear in public timetables, yet, one one occasion KJ arrived there on a train from Bristol (Much to his surprise!!) Now we move out to Worle Junction where the one time double track Weston Loop joined the main Taunton to Bristol line. On Worle, the fenced area just right of centre - between the railway and a lane - was the site of the original Worle Station. I remember the derelict building but it had been demolished when these pictures were taken around 1961. Quote John Thorn Our appreciation to John for this and the previous selection around Weston.
Hi Keith, John writes - "Topping and tailing" the Weston Loop when it was still double track. Two pictures from Devil's Bridge of a Hymek heading north. Plus in Part 2 on Worle, the fenced area just right of centre - between the railway and a lane - was the site of the original Worle Station. Best wishes, John Thorn John was a Weston Man, before moving on to continue his studies at Oxford University. Many thanks John This very fine picture of 'Devils Bridge' spanning 115' across the cutting was taken by Geof Sheppard on the 9th October 2013. It was from this fine observation point that both the pictures above and below were taken by John Thorn. The bridge is a Listed Building grade II. This picture is published with full acknowledgment of the work of Geog Sheppard. |
