I was just reading your interesting web-page
and I remembered a series of photographs shown to me by
my dad (Reg Loze - former West Briton reporter) that I had
seen many years ago. Searching through the attic I found
a set of negatives. I have attached two pictures from this set
which I assume, from your article, must have been taken on the
3rd May 1964. They show, I think, 34002 Salisbury on the
old Platform 4 at Truro railway station.
Apologies for the poorish quality of the pictures, I don't have
very sophisticated scanning facilities. Also, the negatives
themselves have not fared too well over the intervening years.
Perhaps someone might recognize themselves.
Maybe one of your members is even present in these pictures ?
Hope you find them of interest.
Mike Loze
Delighted to show these pictures Mike - the quality is pretty good - your submissions highlight the idea behind the CRS website - to show those pictures which might otherwise be lost forever. Does anybody out there recognise themselves - maybe you were a babe in arms? These pictures have also been added to the steam railtours section for that date. Many thanks to you Mike
In hindsight it is wondered if Network Rail/FGW wish that platform 4 was retained?
