I thought I should pass on information obtained today in the Cornishman about the incident at Long Rock Level Crossing.
On Monday the gates failed in the down position for nearly two hours. This caused major disruption with queues of traffic waiting to get off the beach car park and many pedestrians, who had to wait or make the long walk to Eastern Green or Marazion Station House car park. This clearly shows the importance of keeping the Mexico pedestrian crossing open at Long Rock.As a former resident for many years it was essential for access especially for villagers and for emergencies. As the article said why couldn't the side locked gates be opened under network rail supervision, after all the police seemed to be in attendance? Regards, Roger
