2) Network Rail has been given permission to demolish Dawlish Signalbox which, as all rail enthusiasts will know, is currently situated on the up platform. However the structure has been deteriorating for a long time and no further use is anticipated. Until recently the box had been listed for preservation but has since been de-listed. Removal is likely to take place before the end of the month.
3) Also to be demolished is the bridge near the former Aller Junction which has been well known vantage point for railway photographers for many years. It has already been closed to the public and is likely to be removed over the Christmas period. Unfortunately the bridge gets in the way of works associated with the construction of the Kingskerswell By-pass. Rail travellers along the stretch of line between Aller Junction and Newton Abbot will have already have noticed that considerable changes have taken place on the east side of the line in connection with the road works.
