No trains today   15th February 2014              Roger Winnen

15/2/2014

An announcement was made by Radio Cornwall that they had been advised by FGW there would be no trains in Cornwall today.  In fact an inspection this evening of the rails at our local level crossing on the main line found the rails well covered in rust.
However our 'ever mobile' Roger Winnen out on a bus this afternoon noted that a service was running on the St Ives branch.
Earlier today Roger did a reconnaissance of the station and sea wall at Penzance, the results of his findings are shown below.  Many thanks Roger.

The heavy pounding of the seas and the large volume of water have washed out the ballast from this siding which is sagging and also created a hole in the cycleway. This has been fenced off. 15th February 2014. Copyright Roger Winnen.
