This weekend marks the 50th anniversary of the closure of the Brixham Branch to passengers. None of my pictures of the last day have turned up yet unfortunately. The calendar for 2013 is identical to that for 1963. The last trains were worked by a 3-car dmu, normally it would have been a single car in the W55xxx series. The last trains ran on Saturday 11 May 1963. Regards Mike (Roach)
P.S. The Cheap Day Return from Plymouth to Newton Abbot cost 6 shillings (30p) for the 64 mile round trip. The Cheap Day Return from Newton Abbot to Brixham cost 3 shillings and 6 pence (17.5p) for the 26 mile round trip.
We will try to feature this branch in due course
