Brian Pibworth
Happier days at Templecombe Station as "Lord Nelson" gets a wave from the box as she passes through with the Southern Sunset Raitour on 8th July 2007.
I've used the station several times since then to record "The Cathedrals Express" and to visit the nearby Gartell Light Railway. Since my and Roger Winnen's pictures were taken, the old Down formation has been filled in giving the appearance of a platform on both sides of the train. However, the doors normally only open on the Down side and on one occasion I was carried on to Gillingham while frantically thumbing the button on the Up side door. Since that first time the Guards have always made a point of explaining the arrangements, so I can't have been the only one to be caught out.
With kind regards, Brian
Many thanks Brian, you certainly aren't the first to be caught out, if you look in our section dealing with Templecombe you will see others have been caught out - even the guards. Also re the changed platform arrangements you will see more pictures in our Sherbourne to Templecombe section.
