Hi Keith,
I purchased this picture for a few pounds. It said “near Devonport”, but I am thinking it actually shows the deviation line being built to the east of St Germans viaduct (looking west). There were certain things which didn't ring true in the original picture even after flipping it. However it did seem to be possibly the deviation at Wearde with the Lynher river and the Nottar viaduct. But how wrong can one be. See the answer on the 21st October Newspage.

Roger Winnen and I think that the picture above is reversed? Below is a 'flipped' version which seems to tie in better with maps.
The above picture 'flipped'. To the left, beyond the shed in the field could be the Lynher River, and close above the top of the shed the Nottar Viaduct.
