Dear Keith, To add to my link about Nanstallon Halt, during the war, I have just found a bit of a rarity from 1969, to start off the New Year.
I was travelling back from Bere Alston, just approaching St Budeaux Ferry Road when a ‘Bubble’ on its way to Cornwall crossed above us on one of the Bow String bridges. I am apologetic that the quality is not great, but only had a split second to take the shot.
For a short while after truncation, both up and down lines remained in use up to Bere Alston.

The odds of getting this shot are a chance in a million picture , or something like that. The bracket signal tells us that the GW line was also still double track at this time and consequently there are two 'bow string' bridges. This was singled and the down loop taken out of use w.e.f 2nd July 1973, also the former Southern line on which Andrew is travelling was singled w.e.f. 7th September 1970.
