Lostwithiel Today Richard Kitson With semaphores still in place (and it is hoped that they will be in place for a few years yet , 70804 the train engine on this weeks Aberthaw to Moorswater cement turn runs round its load to gain access to the branch at Liskeard. Richard Kitson Many thanks Richard. Memories of those relief trains from York at Penzance Roger Winnen Two weeks later on 10th August 1985 Another Class 37 arrives at Penzance on a York relief train. I regret not recording its number Plymouth Relief Clive Smith Clive writes:- Not content with a very rare passenger appearance the previous weekend on a York - Plymouth relief train, 37024 decided it would pay a second visit to the west country, this time going all the way to Penzance. The loco makes a splendid site and noise at Plymouth on the 10.30 York - Penzance relief on a very wet 27th July 1985. I believe the loco was allocated to March depot at the time and is still going strong as 37714 on the Great Central Railway. Unfortunately relief trains are by and large a thing of the past and overcrowding sadly the accepted norm at busy times.
