70812 at Twerton Short Tunnel

An unusual view of the Western portal of Brunel's Tudor-Gothic Twerton Short Tunnel, taken during the line closure between Bristol and Bath over the Easter period. Pictured is Colas Rail Freight's latest class 70 during TPOD3 (Temporary Period Of Disruption) 70812 is waiting to leave the possession for Westbury via Bristol and Taunton with a rake of Falcon wagons, the train was top and tailed with 70805 on the rear although out of shot - 23/04/17.

The bogie of 30913 rests on the bridge over High Street, Templecombe. This bridge was subsequebtly replaced in single track form. Note the station name emblazoned on the canopy end. The Somerset and Dorset platform was on the far side of this island. Copyright John Cornelius
