Pilning
needs your help.
Colin Burges

Railfuture has drawn attention to the contrast between Breich in Scotland and Pilning in England. Network Rail had proposed closing Breich but the Scottish Transport Minister has ordered its retention. Pilning is under threat of closure by stealth and the English minister isn't interested.

Campaigners urge that friends sign their government petition and try to use the station. I wonder if it may not be enough to buy a single, say Pilning to Patchway, from any booking office.

There is a link to the petition and a catchy campaign song on http://www.pilningstation.uk/

Cornwall is renowned for rebellion. Please rally your members to this cause.

With best wishes,   Colin

True to Pilnings cause - here is my ticket purchased yesterday at Redruth. KJ
Note :- Pilning is approximately three and a half miles from Patchway.  If you care to read from the link above you will see that because the footbridge at Pilning has been removed pending the forthcoming electrification and the need for increased clearance that only the up platform (1) is now available. A journey from Patchway to Pilning is therefore much longer and much more expensive. A single from Patchway to Pilning tomorrow 16th December 2017 will cost £18.40 (about £12 with railcard) You will have to catch the 12.36 off Patchway and travel to Newport arr 13.00. You will change trains and depart there at 13.15 getting to Pilning at 13.34. This is a journey of approximately forty miles - you will travel through the Severn Tunnel twice!!
