Hi Keit
Well, a busy day today. Called out at 07.50 to attend the report of a car on the line near Pentraze, Chacewater. The Driver had reportedly fled the scene on foot.
I arrived on site at 09.00 to find a Nissan mini bus at the base of the embankment resting very near to the Up Main rail at 305m 15c. There were initial concerns about the clearance for trains, so I had the Fire Brigade remove the tyres, and we obtained the gauge details of a class 150 / 153 (26 inches actually). We anticipated there was clearance after all, and the move took place at walking pace.
The units were to form the Newquay & Falmouth trains. There was a Penzance to Par main line shuttle due to engineering works. It was a close thing with only about 5-6 inches to spare.
The vehicle is due to be removed overnight Sunday with an emergency possession.
Kind regards Craig Many thanks to Craig - the man on the spot!!
