West of Salisbury one gets a regular diet of Class 158/159/159-1s. However on the last Thursday of each month the line gets a visit by Network Rail’s NMT HST.
Attached is a photograph taken this morning of the 0448 1Q23 Old Oak Common – Exeter (New Yard) taken from the former showground,Whipton on the approach to Exmouth Junction. The HST will then return at 1038 via Honiton and Castle Cary to Westbury. Form here it will retrace it’s route to Yeovil(Pen Mill) and then to Weymouth. The leading power car is 43014 with 3013 on the rear. Dave Many thanks David.
