Fine pictures from Craig Munday capture a disastrous day for steam fans.

17/8/2015

Hi Keith
The steam boys showed their disgust for a rancid diesel being on the Royal Duchy by leaving in droves. Being a diesel man, I was quite happy with WCR former Western Region 47832 being provided forward from Newton Abbot. Sadly 60009 had suffered a hot box on the way through Devon, and removed at Newton Abbot.
The class 47 looked rather fine on this prestige service, and some pictures of it climbing Treverrin bank, and around Par were taken. The returning train shot is taken at Restormel in poor light - but shows the versatility of digital photography these days!
The Driver was Ray Churchill and is featured aboard 47832 at Par.
Kind regards  Craig Munday                            Very many thanks Craig

Here's Ray Churchill as we don't normally see him, minus his red neckerchief and hat. Welcome to Cornwall, again. 16th August 2015 Copyright Craig Munday

We'll have to imagine that this is a sleek A4 but nevertheless the smoke is about right and it still makes a good sight. 47832 hauls the late running Royal Duchy at Restormel. 16th August 2015 Copyright Craig Munday
