Close friends have just bought an ex-railway house at Beamsworthy…where? do I hear you say! It’s at mp 206 ¾ between Ashbury & Halwell J on the LSWR line from Meldon Junction. It’s not at a station location, but adjacent to a road overbridge leading to the collection of farms called Beamsworthy, which is a dead-end. The house was built about the time the line was (1880s), and occupied by railway platelayers according to census returns.
I wondered if anyone has a photograph of this location in railway days. Maybe you could circulate this appeal to the team who photographed this area. I’ve looked on the CRS website but nothing obvious.
I’ve been in contact with Irwell Press (they published the detailed book) who have provided what they can, but no images.
Many thanks for any help. Cheers, Paul Burkhalter
