Further damage to the railway at Dawlish means that it will not be repaired until mid - April, Network Rail has said.
It was originally hoped to complete repairs by the middle of March but the line suffered more damage last Friday 14th February 2014.
Exeter MP Ben Bradshaw said that the delay was "another serious blow" to the South West economy.
Network Rail said that it was conscious of the "importance of the line which connects Cornwall and most of Devon to the rest of the UK".
Hearsay :-
Meantime it is understood that the terminus at Penzance will be out of use for another two weeks. This is from an unofficial source. We hope to bring better news on this front.
