Next it was off to Melksham to be 'spooked' again by 153305 on the 10.30 Westbury-Swindon. Even the friendly GWR conductor thought it was great, giving a cheery wave as the unit pulled away.
Later in the afternoon I met up with 'Casper' again at Trowbridge on the 16.20 Westbury to Swindon, this was on my way home from Freshford where a diverted Cross Country HST (43378 &43357) made a nice sight gliding through the valley in glorious spring sunshine. Winter finally seems to be out of the door!
Thanks Guy

Much older than the recent ‘news’ pictures about Corsham – is that mixed-gauge track? This shows one of the two signal-boxes which preceded the 1898 brick GWR box.

Chris Osment Many thanks for this picture Chris.

Of the three proposals, the one at Wilton(a park and ride station to be sited on the Salisbury-Warminster line rather than on the Yeovil route) seems to be furthest developed because it is included in the recently awarded First/MTR South West Trains franchise. Corsham of course, is not on the TransWilts route but is being promulgated as a worthwhile development together with Wootton Bassett as a part of a plan to provide better local train services on the Swindon-Bath-Bristol Temple Meads corridor.
Thanks Derek
