Seeing that the South Devon Railway was holding a Gala this weekend featuring the M7 I planned a trip using the 08.05 service Penzance to Plymouth and onward by connecting bus replacement. However, with the chaos at the terminus it was hoped that the train would start from St Erth, but to no avail, the first train was scheduled at 11.17.as shown on the Penzance Station screens. An alternative was a visit to Pool Market and hopefully to photo the first train since Friday. Waiting on the bridge at Carn Brea for sometime I decided to head for North Crofty Junction and on route I heard a train pass heading westbound..
At North Crofty I waited a good hour, seeing nothing I returned to Carn Brea and on to Pool for a bus home. To my surprise at 12.27 a Class 150 passed as I was approaching the former station heading east. Was it a service train or an inspection train for the track. On arrival back at Penzance a VRT Double Decker in West Yorkshire livery arrived at the Bus Station showing a BR Rail Replacement destination blind. I think this may have been an enthusiast special and not part of the First Great Western undertaking as no First Stickers were visible on the windscreen. An interesting few hours in perfect conditions.
