The train is scheduled to depart Exeter for Eastleigh tomorrow.
A chance to photograph the Network Rail test train in the evening twilight with a Colas Class 37 was thwarted last night. An incident near St David's Station caused chaos to services and the working was cancelled.

Never one to squander a trip up to our daughters, the sun had me out and about looking for trains!
On 7th I ventured out for Flying Scotsman which was seen at Acton Turville. I didnt factor in the ugly return wire so the picture was a bit of an anti climax. The light was very muggy early on.
An hour or so later the skies cleared and I headed across to Broad Lane near Westerleigh Junction for 6M50. The Westbury to Bescot often has a variety of wagons and I was treated to a Colas double header (unfortunately my extreme OCD doesn't like orange and yellow bands on the locos "clashing" like that)!! The train also included an MPV on the back.
This was followed by 6E10 a Taunton Fairwater to Crewe Basford Hall Freightliner HH working with 66585 with a rake on spent sleepers.
Finally a treat as I awaited 6Z22 Tytherington to Appleford stone working. This train is fascinating as it needs to negotiate a busy section of track between Yate Middle and Westerleigh Jn. There is no trailing crossover at Yate Middle, so the train has to run via the Up Charfield reversible, and cross over at Westerleigh Jn. The loco then runs around the train for a return east later. The Bristol Stoke Gifford Signaller in Didcot had a very busy spell threaded trains of all classes over the junction. Finally with the sun just crossing the line behind my back, DCR class 60029 with a superb (non graffitied) rake of Cappagh wagons rolled into view.
I also had a chat with the farmer here. His family has farmed the area since 1933 and he told some super stories about visiting Westleigh box through the years, the old S&D line down to Bath Green Park which ran behind his fields. I also told of wartime freights carrying all manner of military trains running up to D Day.
With Coldplay out of the way, next day a trip home HAD to coincide with 5L46 Laira to Ely featuring 37510 hauling redundant GWR stock and power car 43170. Yatton was the interception point and the train looked and sounded great following a Penzance to Cardiff Castle set. The cafe here is super, and the breakfast - well worth calling in for.
Best wishes Craig

Thank you for your kind email. Apologies for the delay in responding, but I had overlooked the email. I was going to reveal the owner of the bike at Coryton's Cove, but I note that, with Martin's help, you have done so. It was good to meet with Martin and have a chat about various local railway matters.
I can offer a further image of a local event, if it of use. On Sunday 4th June, GWR timetabled some extra trains on the Paignton branch to help move spectators to/from the Riviera Airshow. On Sunday afternoon, an HST Short Set was used. The attached image shows 43042 “Tregenna Castle” and 43029 “Caldicot Castle” at Hollicombe, running as 5T51 1354 Stoke Gifford to Paignton empty stock.
Best regards, David Ive
