A day of Firsts Andrew Triggs Evening Keith/Roger, After 52 years and 53 days today I took my first shots at St Pinnock and Largin Viaducts and at Golant Harbour, coupled with the Bonus visit of 143603 this evening at Penzance to rescue defective 150239, it's been a rewarding one, 5 shots for CRS. All the Best Andrew A great day for one and All, Thank you Andrew Lynton and Barnstaple Lyd David Ward In 2010 my wife and I were staying for a week in North Devon as this is where we first met. Yes, we both lived in North Devon that's where our courting started. No Lynton and Barnstaple Railway in 1971 as it was still sleeping. In 2010 we just happened to be in the area visiting old haunts and it happened to be the Lynton and Barnstaple's Gala Weekend, September 2010. The replica Locomotive 'Lyd' had just been commissioned that year at the Ffestiniog, built by a Cornishman and was visiting the Lynton and Barnstaple for the Gala weekend. I have attached a couple of images. Go Well, Enjoy the Weekend. Cheers, David. Many thanks David, a nice story. Further information City of Truro Karl Hewlett Regarding Neil's article on class 47 D1660/47076/625/749 'City Of Truro', I have seen a black and white negative of D1660 as it was then in number one platform at Truro station just after naming light engine, it's position was just a few feet away from where the current buffer stops are. This negative is in the archival storage at the 'Royal Cornwall Museum', this part of the museum is not available to the public except on invitation at 'The Courtney Library' where I spent a year. I believe this would be the first class 47 in Cornwall as the others were named out of the county and the next confirmed sighting was not until the late 60's. I also wonder if Roger Winnen has quite possibly captured the first class 31 in Cornwall of BR green full yellow end with barbed wire emblems liveried D5827 (later 31294), in Truro sidings July 1973? This loco was allocated to Bristol Bath Road on 08/01/72, could it be a potential trial to replace class 22's in Cornwall? Regards Karl (The Friends Of Penmere Station). Thanks for that Karl Many Thanks Karl! you are in luck. Roger
