Rail Head Treatment Train on the Falmouth Branch.

 It`s that time of year when we see the leaves falling from the trees and that also gives us a chance to catch a pair of class 66s top and tailing two Blue wagons that form the Rail Head Treatment Train (RHTT). This time we have 66 151 and 66 155 with RHTT wagons 006 1 & 006 2, on a wet and windy day.

It happened today
Westbury Signal Removal

This weekend saw the replacement of Westbury's signal W111 at the north end of platform 3.  Since May 1984 this signal has protected Westbury North Junction and overseen hundreds of thousands of movements but it has now been superseded due to the need to fully accommodate new class 800 sets at the recently extended platform 3.   I was unable to go onto the platform to see the work in progress as the station was closed and part of a 'T3' possession meaning only persons authorised by the site supervisor are permitted entry.  Fortunately and despite heavy rain  it was possible to grab a couple of record shots from the traincrew messroom yard as the old signal was removed from the station at 10am this morning.  I understand it will be retained by the S&T for spare parts recovery so may see further service, or at least bits of it might!

Dear Keith and Valerie, It seems that wet Sundays see me delving into my old photographs. I have attached one of my many brakevan rides to Wenfordbridge. Taken in Oct 1980, this month makes this photograph 40 years old. The loaded clay is returning and approaching Helland which can be seen in the distance. I feel very fortunate to have experienced something impossible to experience today.Best wishes Andrew and Diane
