60 years ago today - final passenger services on the
Helston Branch

​Today marks the 60th anniversary of the final day of passenger services on the Helston branchline (3rd November 1962) It's also the final day of the season (except Santa specials) on the Helston Railway.
The formation today being Class 127 DMU coach No. 51616 + MKI Carriage E43147 (from SDR) + Peckett Steam Loco No. 2000.

There was an exciting report in this months 'Railway Magazine' concerning funding of £6,500 for the production of a report concerning the feasibility of the extension of the Exeter - Barnstaple Tarka line services to Bideford.
