Benbow Michael Forward Hello Roger, Thank you for putting the last two pictures of ‘Benbow’ on the site, I attach another—in happier times—this time at Plymouth on the 13th June 1986.The loco. has just been removed from a Penzance to Liverpool train. Michael Forward Many Thanks Michael May day at Ivybridge Clive Smith Clive takes in the scene at his local station as the end of the 'slam door' sets draws nigh. Is it an improvement - I think most of us think not. Quiet HST coaches are replaced by noisy under floor engined hard seated stock. Many thanks Clive. (1) The 06.47 Penzance - Paddington GWR 2+8 HST arrives at Ivybridge with 43172 Harry Patch leading and with Inter City liveried 43185 on the rear. A handful of passengers get ready to board the train . This is one of three direct weekday services to London from this unmanned station. 1st May 2019. Copyright Clive Smith (3) 43172 Harry Patch waits for departure at Ivybridge . The front power car is usually way off the platform under the road bridge to the east but as the train was in reverse formation with coaches A to D at the front then these had to be platformed as Ivybridge can only take four coaches at best. I did arrive here once on a 5-car XC voyager which stopped additionally to cover for a cancelled GW and the driver managed to just squeeze all the doors at the platform very skilfully. 1st May 2019.
