Jon Hird
Please find attached some photos from above of today.
First stop was Charlie’s Gate on the Bodmin & Wenford to see 47306 and 5552 heading for Parkway, it was a lovely bright and frosty scene and I also managed to get a shot of the 47 heading onto the viaduct at Bodmin Parkway (although the trees are so tall it doesn’t look much like a viaduct from this angle!!)
Then with minutes to spare, I headed down to the A38 just east of Bodmin Parkway for a shot of 66165 bringing the empty JIA’s back to St. Blazey ready for the weeks clay workings. The shadows in the valley had preserved the frost from the night before.
Back to Charlie’s Gate for a shot from the other side of 47306 and a top-down shot of the station with 5552, then up to ‘Racing Straight’ for a final couple of photos of 5552 heading back up the hill and 47306 disappearing around quarry curve with the ‘Bodmin Beacon’ visible on the hill in the background.
Hope they are of interest, please feel free to use as many or as few as you wish.
All the best, Jon
