Class 73 'Minion' on Tour
Guy Vincent

'Minion' class 73 no 73951 stabled at ... on 26th (clue in the photo!) then passing Hawkeridge Jcn and approaching Westbury as a 0Z21 1008 Bristol Temple Meads-Weymouth route learning run on the morning of 29th April.  The loco is powered by two Cummins 750 hp diesel engines, giving a total output of 1500hp. The sound is almost the same as a class 220 'Voyager'.

Pinhoe
David Tozer

The GWR route refresher that usually operates between Exeter and Castle Cary via Honiton will soon cease between Exeter and Axminster. The usual traction is a Class 150/2, however today (29.4.2022) 158762 worked the 1523 3Z50 Exeter T.M.D to Castle Cary via Honiton. Possibly only the third time this has happened.

From 16th May the 1631 from Barnstaple to Exeter will be extended to Axminster. The unit is then scheduled to operate ECS to Castle Cary and return via Honiton on Mondays to Wednesdays and Fridays. On Thursdays it is scheduled to return to Exeter via Taunton. Barnstaple line services are generally in the hands of Class 158's and even the odd Class 166.
