HSTs etc in Cornwall today

With only a few weeks left until the 8 car HST formations are phased out I decided on visiting locations at Truro, St Austell, Liskeard and Plymouth to capture what remains today of the HSTs mostly working return trips from Penzance to Plymouth owing to the work at both Marley and Whiteball Tunnel.

Right place right time for me again as Inter City liveried celebrity power car 43185 leads the 09.03 Paddington - Plymouth diverted via Yeovil through Teignmouth station on the 1st March 2019.

Celebrity 43 185 calls at Teignmouth at 12.35 on the 1st March 2019 Copyright Clive Smith. A nice setting this one - the train has just left the delights of the coastal run and briefly leaves the waterside to pass through the station before gaining the banks of the river Teign on the run towards Newton Abbot. The sea is just visible through the gap between the houses top right.

Restormel Valley

Today’s sunshine had disappeared, but here is the 14:43 Exeter Riverside to St. Blazey light engine movement coasting down the Fowey Valley towards Restormel. It was running the customary 132 minutes early!   Best wishes,  Julian  1st March 2019
