7029's progress through
Swindon
Ken Mumford and Colin Pidgeon
Colin Pidgeon and I decided that we would pool, our photos to send to others.
[1] and [2] The sun shines on 7029 - both these taken by Colin.
[3] Colin got a much better photo of the nameplate.
[4] Steam pressure builds up as 7029 waits for a clear road eastwards - Ken's photo.
[5] Anglicans would call this photo - ANCIENT and MODERN after a hymnbook they used in the 1950s! Ken's photo - a difficult one to take.
[6] Ken's try at a portrait photo of 7029 - what a try!
[7] 7029 sets off with a loud exhaust note from its double chimney - Ken's photo.
and NOT the expected steam blastng out of all four cylinders just this 'whimper?' Ken's photo.
[8] It was qutie difficult to get a going-away shot as there were so many folk all trying to get a photo of a loco that had been built at the nearby Swindon Works around 1950. - Ken's shot.
[9] At the rear of the train was a class 47 diesel-electric which seemed to be just ticking over. It was interestng to note that when Flying Scotsman pulled away from Swindon a few weeks ago, the class 47 at the rear was really working hard to help the A3. Interesting indeed! Ken's photo
