1. This is the 0920 St Ives to Paddington hauled by 4553 & 4554 on 14th June 1958. The down 'Riviera' ran to St Ives on Saturdays, but the up train began at PZ seven days a week. The late Jon Wood Collection

3. 5508 at St Ives. She was a regular throughout the postwar period. The late Jon Wood Collection
Re 5508 at St Ives. All steam at PZ shed ended 9/62. St Ives was dieselised in 9/61 but Penzance kept 4 prairies to cover diesel failures and this is one such occasion. Yes, 55xx were banned on the branch but PZ had nothing else!
As a matter of interest, the 55 x kept on at Penzance until Sept 1962 were 5508, 5537, 5545 and 5562.

Ashbury crossing Ken Mumford

Friday (21st) afternoon (in the rain) at Shrivenham (site of Ashbury Crossing) showing 769 943 heading back East, having spent 4 minutes in Platform 1 at Swindon, on a test run. I assume this is the first time a class 769 (or 319) has ever visited Swindon.
Also I understand that from Monday 24th May class 387 EMUs will be working services West of Swindon (to Bristol Parkway) covering for class 800 IETs out of service for inspection / repairs.
