In February 2021 an article appeared in a national newspaper by a well-known BBC journalist (who shall remain nameless) under the title “My love of railways kept me on the straight and narrow.” Here are a few quotes from that article to see if you can identify with the author.
1 Model trains and the full-size ones pulling in and out of Bristol Temple Meads station provided a route out of a lonely childhood for this broadcaster.
2 My own interest in railways is not some jolly little hobby. It goes to the very essence of who I am.
3 In my strange lonely childhood trains were a source of escape.
4 Occasionally, as a treat, my mother would take me to see the real thing. We lived not far from Bristol Temple Meads station, which is a glorious railway cathedral.
5 I never collected numbers as they didn't interest me. I collected the thrill of the order of it all.
6 Why me ? Why not my son or daughter. None are interested in trains, in fact they dislike them.
7 The inner joy of being at one with trains is a lifelong comfort. They really do take the strain.
Good morning Keith.....Justin Webb is I believe the author, someone with a similar view to me.....
Best wishes Andrew and Diane

Top and tailed by 60046 ( leading) and 60055. running some 25 minutes early, having omitted a pause at Taunton.
Funny thing, you don't see a 60 for several years, then two turn up at once!
All the best, Bill.
