The crane utilises the original rail permanent way with two redundant sidings underneath.
The second photograph shows one of the barrier wagons, used in this case as purely a reach wagon.
Barrier wagons were once numerous on the network and often formed a barrier from dangerous chemicals and explosives or conversion of coupling irregularities.
The barrier wagons at Carne Point were possibly constructed from the five redundant prototype CDA wagons which were withdrawn early on in production. In this view you can see approx a third of the fleet. EWS 08865 was resident pilot at this time, illustrated in photograph three which is unfortunately slightly obstructed by a ships mast.
