Kens frustrations - When I went to check how the steam train – 45596 + support coach -  was progressing, it was reported about an  hour or so EARLY in the Reading area.  So I quickly headed for Pewsey via Marlborough.  Joining the A417/A419 near the m4 traffic was crawling, but once clear everything was fine until going through OGBOURNE ST. GEORGE.  From there it was a stop and start.  Just beyond the Marlborough golf course I decided to go via the Town Centre, but descending the hill to the Town Centre it was stop-start AGAIN.  Once in Marlborough High Street it was fine until a motorist wanting to pull in blacked the main road and approaching where the A4 goes to  right and the road to Pewsey turns left there a black BMW blacking the way onto the A4 road wouldn’t move!
Once on the move it was clear until I got to Pewsey Station three minutes after the revised time for the steam loco.
However, the station master/porter told me that it hadn’t gone through and kept me informed several times about the steam locomotive’s progress until he went off duty.  His helpfulness was very much appreciated.
It appeared that 45596 was held up near Reading for some time to regain its original path.

45596 is paying another visit to the South West this weekend, and is seen here passing Wick, working from Slough to Bishops Lydeard
to take up railtour duty tomorrow, from Taunton.
