19th June 2023

Mid Cornwall Session
Jon Hird

I fancied getting out of the house this afternoon so I whipped over to Bodmin to see 5553 at work on the BWR. I planned to get a photo from the field at Charlie’s Gate, but the farmer has now moved his sheep into the field, so that was off the cards. Instead I had a little time at Colesloggett to see it come down, and then caught it at Quarry curve on the way back.

On the way home, I spotted an IET slinking beneath the road bridge at Bugle. I had a feeling it would probably cross a unit at Goonbarrow, so I quickly headed to the crossing to see if I could get a shot down the tracks to see them passing, then hung around to see the unit pull into (what’s left of) Bugle station afterwards.

The platform could do with a visit from a lawnmower!!

Nothing overly interesting I’m afraid, but a couple of railway photos on an otherwise boring Sunday nonetheless.

All the best, Jon Hird

Not too boring a Sunday - thank you Jon - must do our grass too.

Dear Keith,

As an ex-serviceman, you will know those names. But how do they apply to Devon's most prosperous branch line?

Two more reproduction station signs went to CoombeRail and OkeRail on Saturday.

Many thanks Colin - if our viewers want some pretty unique pictures and detailed histories of the Exmouth Branch It is very much recommended that you go to the link mentioned above. Very well done Colin.
