Three beautiful shots of a traffic now lost to the railways.
Hi Keith,  3 shots from my collection of the changing operation of the sadly discontinued parcel services in the region.

Holiday day trips to Penzance were not complete until we had watched the departure of the 19:30 TPO. A driver informed me that the train went to Leeds but I was never able to confirm that at the time.

First shot is of 50034 Furious with a rake of BR blue parcels sector stock, then 47671 in the familiar RES colours following ist launch in 1991. The final variation shows 67009 in EWS Maroon & Gold, this loco has been in storage since October 2016
Kind Regards,  Martin Baker

With still a long way to go as 45042 opens up out of Taunton with the 1V42 10.35 Wolverhampton - Penzance relief on the 28th May 1982. This was the Friday of the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend. Copyright Clive Smith.
Many thanks Clive - plenty of detail.

A Question.
Jack Hunt

Answers please concerning  four level crossings.
When were Paignton South, Crediton, & Eggesford level crossings converted from gated operation to barrier operation?
And when was Long Rock level crossing at Penzance refitted from two barriers to four barriers with steady amber and flashing red lights and CCTV operation?
Kind regards Jack Hunt.
Can anybody help please.

Some answers for Jack - with minutes. A distant reply from Rangoom.
Dear Keith,
I can help with only some of this:
Long Rock went CCTV etc when the box closed and the line singled 24/6/74.
Paignton South was converted to barriers when the layout was altered to separate the PDR, I believe. This work was completed 13/11/72
I don't know much about the other two, except that Eggesford got a replacement box when the old one started falling into the river. The crossing may have changed at that time.

Roy Hart  (Rangoon)
Many thanks Roy - has anybody else answers concerning Crediton and Eggesord.
