GWR 2-6-2 tank 5532
As ever, I am following Mike Roach’s ‘Nineteen Sixty Two’ series with great interest. The latest section, on Prairie 5532, reminded me of my February 1973 trip to Woodham’s Barry Scrapyard, and here is poor 5532 in the yard with part of her bunker cut away.
Happily, she is now rescued and under restoration.

Trains requiring the branch now need to use the crossover at the western end of Liskeard Station then a single lead from the up platform takes you to the branch. Copyright Roger Winnen

A quick trip over to Bodmin yesterday (17.12.2023) to see 47306 and 5552 working the Christmas trains.

47306 heads the 14:30 service to Bodmin Parkway passing Walker Lines industrial estate. Plenty to see here - the former Fitzgerald lighting sidings (temporarily disconnected), the Boscarne branch marked by a line of trees in the background and a fleet of Siemens vans who are using the site as a storage compound in connection with the mainline resignalling project. 17.12.2023, copyright Jon Hird.
