Winnen report.   Roger is still at Bodmin Hospital where he is receiving professional treatment for a leg infection. It is hoped that he may be transferred to a location nearer Penzance. This is likely to be before he can go home. He remains cheerful and is looking forward to todays lunch!!  -- Sunday at 10.00.
Delightful Dawlish

The delightful Dawlish view - long before we worried about the many problems brought about by the wash outs by the storms.

Class 52 to Cornwall
The Cornishman
Paul Barlow

Hello Keith. I few shots from 2007 when I traveled on 'The Cornishman' tour with D1015 Western Champion. I joined at Bristol on the outward and returned back to Bristol in the evening. The train was non stop from Bristol to Plymouth, then stopping at St Austell and Truro only.
As always it was a great day out with this locomotive and hopefully one day we will be able to do these things again!
Kind regards, Paul.

Same day, same place same time! as Clive Smith
Bristol T.M.'83
Guy Vincent

Picture
Clive's photo published yesterday of the two 33s adjacent to platform 12 at Temple Meads on 29.01.1983  rang bells with me and a search of some old photo albums revealed the attached colour print, taken in virtually the same spot on the same day around the same time, approximately mid-afternoon.   See the shadows of the assembled gallery of enthusiasts on the platform.  Clive's shot shows 33021 still displaying 99 in the headcode box and this would have been the SO 1V22 0830 Brighton-Cardiff (due BTM 1242) with another loco taking over from Bristol.   33043 in my pic above is displaying 89 for a Portsmouth-Cardiff route working.

Cheers for now

Guy Vincent

PS  I would be very interested to know what else Clive recorded/photographed that day. I only wrote down numbers and took a few photos and have no details of any workings.
Many thanks Guy

News - Cornwall to host the G7 summit this summer
From 'Cornwall Live' - Cornwall has been chosen to host the international G7 leaders’ summit in June in what is likely to be a landmark first meeting between world leaders since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
It comes after speculation grew in recent days and was then confirmed by the government earlier today before being formally announced tonight.
Organisations across Cornwall have welcomed the news, pledging an event that will leave a lasting social and economic legacy to benefit all of the county's residents.
The major three-day international event will see leaders from the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States, as well as invited leaders from Australia, India, and South Korea attend. It could also be Joe Biden's first trip to the UK as President of the US.
The event will host world leaders at Carbis Bay, with neighbouring St Ives and other sites in Cornwall, such as Falmouth, hosting international delegates and media – with organisers determined to make this an event for all residents in Cornwall to experience and share.
The Prime Minister Boris Johnson has spoken of the upcoming event, describing it as "a crucial summit".
One wonders how many will come by train and is that the reason for relaying the St Ives branch!!!!
