What memories, Michael. Many thanks Michael
Neil Phillips
I saw Clive Smith’s photo of 46014 at Exeter St David’s on 4/1/83, and thought it worth mentioning that, as D151, this Peak was the first of its type to reach Penzance on 30/12/69. This was the start of local crew-training on Class 46 and my photo of it at Truro the following day – with overactive steam heating boiler (and the sun about to set on the Swinging Sixties).
D151 was renumbered to 46014 in December 1973, its nose ends were modified from centre headcode panels to twin marker lights in March 1977, and it survived long enough to become one of the final 10 Class 46s in traffic, being withdrawn from Gateshead in May 1984 and scrapped at Swindon Works in February 1986.
Best regards, Neil Phillips Many thanks Neil for all the details
