It's been a long and troubled year
Cornwall Railway Society

It's exactly a year ago today since we last met at the Memorial Hall and it's likely to be another six months before we can all meet again. All due to the Coronavirus, we hope that you have all survived this dreadful time and look forward to meeting you all at our next meeting in September.

We hope to be setting the seats out once again at the warm and comfortable Memorial Hall, Redruth. on September 11th. Picture by Roger Winnen on the 1st November 2016. Copyright.
The Provisional Programme:-

Our Chairman Dennis Flood makes a worthy start to the 2021/22 season  on Saturday September 11th with 'My 49 year railway career - and a bit more, Part 2'.  This presentation will be with the aid of numerous slides accompanied by a detailed and often humorous commentary. Denis brings us a fascinating evening - not to be missed.
Saturday 9th October an evening of entertainment hosted by Nigel Tregoning and Ian Cavil.
On Saturday 13th November e hold our delayed AGM -this will be short and followed by the results of the 2020 Photographic Competition  presented  in style by Ian Mckey.
Our last event for 2020 will feature a skilled and profusely illustrated presentation on 'The Irish Railways; given by John Ball.

All of these meetings will take place  ONLY if circumstances permit subject to the restrictions imposed by the Corvid-19 pandemic.
The latest CRS Magazine packed with interesting articles and photographs.should have fallen through members letterboxes within the last few days.
With many thanks to our editors John Gilbert and Nicholas Kiszczuk.

Newquay to Par
Alan Peters reminiscences
Newquay still had a proper station, it is a shame the station did not survive.
Picture
When Newquay still had a proper station, it is a shame the station did not survive even as a private building, B461 made up of class 118 DMU W51318 and W51303 waits to return to Par on 10th April 1987 - Copyright Alan Peters
Picture
The same unit B461 at departing Par, unfortunately I can not recall if the unit was doing a shunt as there is nobody on the train and is seen back in the branch platform on the next shot 10th April 1987 - Copyright Alan Peters
Picture
Unfortunately I have no notes for the Network SouthEast class 50 arriving at Par, I would guess 50023 'Howe' due to the short name plate, London bound with MKII stock including one coach in the new Intercity livery and MKI buffet and gangway brake, we are lucky very little has changed at Par as most stations have changed with modernisation - 10th April 1987 - Copyright Alan Peters
With many thanks to Driver Alan Peters - get well soon.
