Newton Abbot Carriage Shed
Demolition starts
Clive Smith
Many thanks to our man and his camera as Clive Smith takes a few pictures in difficult weather conditions at the start of the demolition of the Carriage Shed.  The serious fire in the building, supposedly caused by vandals three weeks ago, may have caused the bringing forward of  the work to remove the building which has since been in a dangerous condition. One wonders what the new Aldi Store which will replace it will look like?  Many thanks to you Clive.

Looking south across the station approach it is somewhat difficult to make out the roofless carriage shed behind the trees which front this view of the site. 09.00 12th November 2018 Copyright Clive Smith

It's lunchtime now as we take a look from the A381 Torquay Road bridge towards the station and carriage shed. Presumably the demolition will include the 'arched building' in the foreground and maybe the white former David and Charles building. 12th November 2018. Copyright Clive Smith

Ellerhayes
David Tozer

Hi Keith,
Yesterday I popped out to Ellerhayes to photograph 37219 shoving with the 1255 Exeter (Riverside) - Derby R.T.C. Also a Class 220 working the 0930 Penzance - Glasgow Central.
                Regards Dave      Many thanks David
Daves reference to Ellerhayes had me confused - just where is Ellerhayes?  Researching, using Google Earth, took me to 'Ellerhayes Bridge' - the road bridge just to the west of the site of Silverton station. If you take a look at Goggle Earth and this location you can still see the rails of the tramway which led out from the station towards Killerton serving a mill.

Seven years after closure Roger Winnen took a sentimental journey along the route of the North Cornwall line - here are some of his pictures. Many thanks Roger.
