Peter Triggs talks on  railways in the Wessex area

Meeting in the Memorial Hall
Redruth Methodist Church

 Redruth Railway Bridge
Good afternoon Roger
I notice on the your website that a lorry became stuck under the railway bridge this week .
Enclosed is a picture and looking closer it belongs to a haulage company in Scotland.
It seems it should have taken the low road as they say in Scotland

I thought you might the attached to go between the two recent images from Clive Smith.
I believe 1C11 was the 06:45 from Swindon to Penzance. The train was accelerating away from the speed restriction at Par Harbour bridge.

Regards, Julian.

Whatley Quarry
Guy Vincent

Following recent departures from Whatley Quarry of shunters 08730, 08787 (aka 08296) and 08947 only one example is believed to be present, 08933.    I recently managed to grab a couple of photos of this elusive loco from the road bridge spanning the quarry arrival / departure line.  08933 has been owned by Mendip Rail for a number of years but was at first kept at Merehead and later sent to Whatley where it was usually stabled out of sight.   08652 may or may not also be here, I could see no evidence of it when I visited last weekend.

Regards, Guy Vincent

Track machines
Chris Bellett

For those interested in such things there is a website that I have recently come across that gives the unique Train Describer headcodes for all NR On-Track Plant.  If you follow such things on the various available signalling train describer maps then that could be useful.

Take Care,
Chris Bellett,  Retired S&T Engineer,  CRS Member

Many thanks Chris.
