Working Instructions for the
Trenance Valley Branch
Andrew Jones
Dear Keith, Another wet afternoon, no gardening today!
On the 3rd May 1969, I attended the St Blazey open day and was lucky enough to purchase amongst other things the signal box register from Churston on the Dartmouth and Torbay Railway and the Plymouth Traffic District, Sectional Appendix dated June 1960, all for the princely sum of 10 bob.
I have attached from page 138 working from St Austell to Lansalson, (Trenance Valley Line).
It makes for interesting reading.
Best wishes Andrew.         Many thanks Andrew.

The working of this long forgotten branch does indeed make an interesting read.

The quest for the last HST's goes on

Hello Roger/Keith,
4 shots from today, making the effort to catch the final days of 2+8 HST's in service, with a couple of bonus's thrown in for good measure, only 8 days left in service with GWR for long distance HST's
All the Best
                       Andrew
Many thanks Andrew

Roy Hart advises us that the handwriting is definitely that of the Late Jack Trounson however neither he nor Paul Burkhalter who writes below can give a location for this view.
From Paul Burkhalter - Hi team,
Some comments on the image shown on the 8th May of the narrow gauge loco being taken from Dolcoath Mine to Treamble.  The Industrial Railway Society South West England book records two loco’s at Dolcoath as being 1ft 10in gauge Kerr Stewart works numbers 812 of 1903 and 1169 of 1911.  The records also state that they were moved about 1920 to Treamble, when the mine workings closed.  Hence the image may be dated earlier than stated.  Treamble Works produced Fullers Earth from about 1920 to closure before 1942. It is thought the narrow gauge loco’s were then scrapped.  Hope this helps,
Kind regards, Paul Burkhalter
Many thanks for the information Paul
