Covering the Running Day on the Dartmoor Railway, staring residents 31452, 08937 and Thumper 1132. Former NR 31285 has still to arrive at the Dartmoor railway as we speak

Redruth
From the air
Paddy Bradley
Yet more interesting views from the Paddy Bradley Collection.  This time from the air.  The following pictures are from the same aerial view which was too large to fit the scanner.  Many thanks to Paddy for making his collection available to the CRS.
Picture
Redruth looking to the south west, this view is dated 18th August 1932. Note the railway passing through the 22 yard tunnel just before the station. Noticeable is a van parked in the bay platform. This view is soon after the transfer of goods facilities to Drump Lane Goods yard and the sidings on the down side have been lifted. The station building on the up side is the original smaller structure. Just across the road from the station building lies the three storey Jarvis store whilst immediately beyond the houses are in an area known as Jack's Splatt - these were destroyed by enemy action during world war 2 - the area is now occupied by the Post Office. To the right of this picture the very large building is Flower Pot Methodist Chapel - this was sadly destroyed by fire during the 1970's. the area now being occupied by a car park which takes its name from the former chapel. From the Paddy Bradley collection.
Picture
Looking to the south west but slightly to the right of the previous picture. The reference being the former Flowerpot Methodist Chapel - the large building to the left of this view. In the foreground can be seen, bottom right, Drump Road bridge. A bracket signal is clearly visible. In the distance the clear expanse of grass is that of the Fairfield, Coach Lane being beyond. Classic Traction at
Westbury
Guy Vincent
Classic traction at Westbury today (9th) with 37059 and 37038 returning empty stock to Eastleigh from yesterday's Taunton-York & return charter.     After running round the coaches they departed on time and headed off south up Dilton Marsh bank towards Warminster and the former Southern Region.  It's always nice to see these classic British Railways designed locos working on the main line almost 60 years after they first appeared. One wonders whether the second generation imported designs will last as long?

   Regards,  Guy Vincent.
Many thanks Guy - smashing pictures - a super spread.

Two more shots of the 'Syphons'.   37059 and 37038 approaching Westbury this afternoon on the 5Z76 Taunton-Eastleigh ECS and then storming up the 1 in 75 gradient past Dilton Marsh Halt, now with 37038 leading.

Many thanks once again Guy - you're doing us proud.
