Hello Roger, I hope you are well and I see you are getting about in the New Year. I notched up another birthday on Sunday! The picture of the Western at Long Rock brought back so many memories. Rarity at Westbury

2023 was only eight days old and the first 'rarity' arrived at Westbury courtesy of Colas. The company ran a special (Su) 6Z37 1250 Shrewsbury Coleham - Westbury consisting of three FEA water cannon tanker flats hauled by recently repainted loco 37405, now owned by the Harry Needle Railroad Company and hired to Colas. The wagons were moved on to Bescot this morning (9th) in the consist of the daily 6M50 0759 departmental freight from Westbury with 37405 remaining stabled in the up yard adjacent to P3. One unconfirmed possibility is that the loco may be booked for a trip to the wheel turning lathe at Bristol St Philips Marsh but this is pure guesswork at this stage. Whatever the reason the loco makes for a bright sight in what has so far been a rather gloomy month for the railway.
