An appeal - can you help?
Paul Burkhalter

Ernesettle is one of the sites that I am in the final stages of researching for a potential book covering Plymouth’s Industrial and Military Railways.  I’d like to take some space on the website to appeal for help in tying down some closure/last working dates for some locations.  If anyone can help then please send an email to the webmaster for forwarding to me.

A very rare shot indeed
from John Ball
Good morning, Keith.  Apologies for quality of enclosed - as a student I didn't have much spare cash for camera equipment, and this was an enormous blow-up in the darkroom, original negative long lost but I was able to scan the print.
It was in May 1972 and taken from the Tamar bridge, looking down to the pier while a train was running.  The only time I ever saw a train on the pier - it was not a place where I felt like lingering with a camera in full view of the notorious British secret police since the General Jenkins coup d'etat.  This time, I didn't get nabbed!  John

The story behind 'the British secret police' is that on a couple of occasions John has been nabbed for innocently taking pictures which included RN sites (In the distance) - it was eventually accepted that his pictures didn't divulge any secrets and he was released.

From the Royal Albert Bridge - a chance, and very rare shot of one of the MOD narror gauge locos out on Ernesettle jetty. It looks as if the loco may, in this case, be pushing the van and that maybe the figure walking in advance is a safety measure? May 1972 Copyright John Ball
A visit to Long Rock
John Cornelius
The first of pictures taken at Long Rock Shed from the John Cornelius collection.  Granges were the mainstay of motive power in Cornwall for a time.                                                      Many thanks John
