The headboard above, a genuine item from the railtour to Penzance on 21st October 2006 was found behind a settee when Karen moved into a new home. The headboard, now her property, was won by a participant on the railtour.

Please feel free to put it on the website and distribute freely.
For the first time since 2009 and the Penryn loops, 3 car sets are being used on the branch, this well may be the original 3 car class 150s. Kind regards Craig Enhanced train service between Truro and Falmouth Docks for the Tall Ships Regatta From Thursday 28 until Sunday 31 August 2014, an enhanced train service will operate between Truro and Falmouth Docks. Trains will be longer than normal and as a result will be unable to stop at Falmouth Town. Customers travelling to and from Falmouth should use Falmouth Docks station instead. Click below for further details - train times etc. www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/tallships Morning Keith, A photograph taken of 34046 at St David’s seconds later an SWT 159 crossed in front. Dave Your luck was in - thank you David And on a lovely summers evening David catches the return 'Torbay Express' in smashing light conditions near Cullumpton.
Whilst work is proceeding on the installation of lifts etc at St Austell station work is also in progress on the up platform building. From the surrounding scaffolding it would appear that refurbishment rather than demolition is the order of the day - one hopes so.
Enthusiasts were disappointed to hear that due to the lack of a driver and guard that the loco hauled service from Par to Exeter and return to Penzance was not to run. However, as he had already purchased a ticket to Exeter Roger decided to go anyway and was well pleased with what he found in replacement of the loco hauled service. 150 002 which is normally to be found on the Reading to Basingstoke service departed from its usual pastures and took a run to Plymouth where it took up the loco hauled services duty. 14th August 2014 In the afternoon, it was time to say farewell to West Country relief Signaller Claire Staniland. Claire has been a familiar face in the Penzance / St Erth & Roskear boxes for 4 years and we will be sad to see her leave. Happily, she will remain in the industry and starts a new career with FGW at Long Rock very soon. Claire was poignantly the first female Signaller to work Penzance box. All the best to you Claire. Craig Munday and Claire Staniland on the steps of Roskear signalbox on the occasion of her retirement from signalling on the 14th August 2014 Copyright Craig Munday. A nice picture of Claire and also of the usually 'unseen man' behind the camera who takes many of our wonderful photographs. ' Take a bow' Craig.
We are very grateful to Craig for bringing us a variety of colouful pictures this month, the early part of which was one of almost unbroken sunshine. Today's 1Z48 17.10 Minehead to Southend waits departure. 47237/37706 at the business end. Regards, Martin Many thanks Martin (Received at 17.15)
