Here is an unusual sight taken at Didcot steam centre on 23 September 1995 of a new class 325 Royal mail EMU.This was taking part in a Rail by Mail special event. The units were built in 1985 but this one and others did not enter service until 1996. Thanks and best wishes, Copyright Michael Forward. Thanks Michael Kidderminster Tony Shore Many Thanks Tony East Somerset Railway James Bown Hi Keith. An enjoyable visit to the East Somerset Railway today, a delightful ride to nostalgia with the added bonus of being pulled by recently restored Large Prairie 4110, beautifully restored and sounding sweet. Regards James Bown. Smashing steamy pictures - a lovely day with good light. Thank you James. Luxulyan Jon Hird One quick pic from this evening (10th May 2023) attached for you, of 66104 passing Luxulyan with the empty CDA’s bound for Goonbarrow from Fowey. You've been busy Jon. Many thanks. Cross Country HST Jon Hird I took a trip to Respryn last night to capture the unexpected crosscountry HST which worked to Penzance. Then, later on, I headed to St. Austell station to see it on its return. I managed to get there in time to see 57603 on the sleepers, too. Many thanks Jon.
Star of the show 'Survival' Driver Alan Peters The main picture of the show 'Going Green at Westbury was, I'm afraid, lost in my 'In box' for the day. My apologies to Alan - here it is, a really superb view. Just before 22.00, in the night sky A splendid show on a very clear evening. Well caught - many thanks to you Andrew. Bodmin & Wenford Coal Supply? Phil Hawke Keith This is the latest delivery of coal to the Bodmin and Wenford from Ffos y fran in South Wales. Some of the biggest lumps seen for a long time but it looks as though this could be one of the last as the pit is being forced to close down. This was confirmed on the BBC news website today. Twenty-five tonnes at about £450 per tonne. Pre Mr Putin's dire actions it cost £200. Where future deliveries will come from , at what cost and of what quality remains to be seen. The average consumption per day using 6412 is about three quarters of a tonne but this loco has to return to the South Devon Railway for repair. 5553, on hire from Peak Rail but owned by Pete Waterman, is taking over the services and will use a bit more. The railway's own prairie 5552 is due to return from a major overhaul by the end of the month. Of the rest of the fleet only Judy is in service with 6435, 4612 and 2766 awaiting overhaul. Even 08444 is out for heavy repairs . A far cry from the days when six steam locos were available! Phil Hawke Thank you for this item Phil - things certainly look quite dire.
With every best wish for a brighter future. Plenty of action at Penzance this evening Roger Winnen Going Green at Westbury Driver Alan Peters Alan and the railways looking towards the future. Many thanks Alan.

Coronation Sunday at the Bodmin & Wenford Railway Roger Winnen A 60th birthday we just can't miss Western Courier Steve Widdowson Hi Keith. I know then SVR is off your patch, however D1062's 60th Birthday must be worth a mention, & then D821 came out ! Regards Steve Widdowson Many thanks Steve for your contribution and for pointing out that it is off our patch. However we all remember that both of these locos were on 'our patch' for several years and we all liked the hydraulics. Very nice pictures. HST Reprieve Railway Magazine May 2023 For those who mourne the passing of the HST's it brings joy to the hearts and minds of those who appreciate the comfort which these trains give versus their replacements that they have been given a further reprieve of around twelve months. Hooray, and so say all of us. Westerns in the far West Roger Winnen Treesmill Jon Hird Please find attached 2 photos of the new management train passing beneath Treesmill road bridge this afternoon (5th May 2023). In the portrait photo, you can see a bird of prey which is having some bother from a crow, their aerobatics were something to watch whilst waiting for the train. These photos were taken with the kind permission of the land owner. Kind regards, Jon Hird Many many thanks Jon, a lucky and most intersting shot.
