Hello Keith , I've just spent a couple of days in the glorious sunshine showing a friend around the railways in the Duchy. Craig Many thanks Craig Along with the picture below of 1450 standing at Exeter St Davids on the 13th August 1962 I received from Barry Hilton a link to the David Hey Website.
No amount of praise would be sufficient for this highly recommended site to which I have placed a link below. It is full of masses of information, fantastic photographs accompanied by a sparkling script containing many amusing stories and thoughts. It is a must for you all. www.davidheyscollection.com Many thanks to Barry Hilton for advising me, and you all of this real gem of a site. Barry draws our attention to his section, number 86 'BR Railway Roundabout 1' which maintains the extremely high quality to be found throughout this location. Many thanks to Barry Hilton for the picture below.
1071 Western Renown had already ventured down the Roskear branch to Holmans, returning to Penzance where it picked up what I believe was the Bristol parcels and a couple of flat wagons which it shunted into the sidings at St Erth. This shot is of it on the St Ives branch during that shunt! St Ives branch at St Erth. 29th September 1976 Copyright Steve Burdett Many hours were spent at St Ives in November 2007 with the late John Wood and Sam Felce to witness the recovery of the crane which overbalanced landing outside the ladies toilets adjacent to Porthminster Beach, St Ives. The recovery operation began on Tuesday 13th November and was completed by the morning of the 16th November when the train departed for Margam in South Wales More in inside stories 'Features Page'
Good Evening Keith, Here's a view of recently re-liveried 155325 arriving at Par, on Saturday 11th April whilst working 2C47 1415 Plymouth - Penzance. 153382 was on the rear. The unit still retains its green London Midland interior. About 5 seconds later, 1A91 pulled in, completely obscuring this view! Regards, Tristan. Thanks Tristan
